AGV’s monitoring in real time at the SEAT factory

A blue light comes on at 5 o’clock in the morning in the engine warehouse. It is from one of the 125 robots which embarks on its route in one of the workshops of the SEAT factory in Martorell, making up to 2,800 trips per day and transporting more than 23,000 pieces a day. Geprom participates in the AGVs project, carrying out the design, configuration and parameterization of the monitoring of the AGV routes in real time. Through the integration of the Legato Sapient MES system, more than 125 AGVs and 7,000 variables are monitored every 3 seconds, achieving an increase in the OEE from 87.5% to 95%. Likewise, the traffic of the AGVs is improved as well as the delivery of gearboxes, engines and components that pass through the factory workshops. Throughout the project, 24/7 technical support is carried out and continuous improvement meetings are held with the aim of optimizing the internal logistics of the factory. The company estimates that this robotic transport system facilitates and optimizes the work of the operators while reducing production time by 25%. Autonomous vehicles transport engines, gearboxes, shock absorbers or mirrors and can carry up to 1,500 kg of weight. Through a barcode, they certify the piece they have to load, and ask permission to pass through a sensor that also allows them to open the doors of the warehouses. SEAT is immersed in a process of digital transformation, which will take the company to the technification of its facilities and to enter fully into the industry 4.0.
