Geprom has participated in the pilot project for the digitalization of internal logistics at Grupo Gallo’s plant in El Carpio (Córdoba), driven by Telefónica and Telefónica Tech, with the objective of evolving towards a more efficient, flexible operational model aligned with Industry 4.0 .
The initiative was based on deploying a scalable digital architecture, prepared to integrate advanced capabilities such as artificial intelligence (AI), and aimed at unifying information from the plant’s main systems. This technological foundation provides an integrated view of logistics flows and end-of-line processes, enabling more precise and coordinated management of daily operations.
Industrial Digital Transformation Project
The project jointly addressed the modernization of internal management systems and end-of-line facilities, integrating the operation of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), automatic palletizing systems, and the software layer for controlling and supervising these automation systems.
This integration allows coordination of the different elements of internal logistics from a unified platform, improving process visibility and enabling data-driven decision-making.
Industrial Digital Transformation Project
In this context, seven new AGVs were incorporated, offering higher levels of flexibility and efficiency, alongside the implementation of a fleet management platform based on Siemens technology, designed for centralized, scalable, and multi-brand administration.
This solution optimizes current operations and prepares the infrastructure for future growth, including the addition of new vehicles, different manufacturers, or advanced functionalities.
Modernization of Palletizing Systems
The project also included the technological upgrade of fourteen end-of-line palletizing stations through the renewal of control electronics, PLCs, industrial robot programming, and modernization of the plant’s industrial network.
These actions help improve operational reliability, enhance process safety, and support a more sustainable internal logistics system.
Technological Foundation for Industry 4.0
As a result, the plant now has a digital foundation ready to progressively evolve toward Industry 4.0 capabilities, such as advanced data analytics, scenario simulation, digital twin development, and AI tool applications.
Furthermore, this pilot project serves as a replicable model for other Grupo Gallo facilities, facilitating its expansion to future industrial digital transformation processes.
