On May 22nd, the Minister of Enterprise and Knowledge of Catalonia, Àngels Chacón, conducted an institutional visit to the Geprom installations in Castelldefels. During the visit, the minister and her team had the opportunity to meet the company first hand, and the different projects and solutions that they present in the environments of Industry 4.0 and industrial automation.
During her time at the offices, Chacón was able to discover the most innovative products from Geprom. A motorized Lego model, using a PLC, allowed to show the functionalities of the monitoring software MES Legato Sapient in real time and visualize alarms and downtimes in the installation. Moreover, Chacón’s whole team was also able to experiment virtual reality applied to the Industry, with the Visionary Render program from Geprom’s partner Virtalis.
Lastly, there was space for debate where the current status of Industry 4.0 and its relevance was discussed, and the business and commercial sectors in Castelldefels and Catalonia were talked about. “Concepts such as Big Data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, or IoT will bring a great transformation in the world of work. Facing the changing environment, we will have to be trained, open, and adapt to change, and above all, be flexible both in the business dimension and individually”, said Chacón.
