The first thing we must be clear about when implementing a CMMS program is that, thanks to the analysis and its scope, we can streamline decision making in real time in an efficient manner, avoiding unscheduled shutdowns or breakdowns.
A CMMS (also known as a CMMS, Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a tool used to facilitate your plant’s maintenance activities as well as asset management.
There is a wide range of CMMS software available on the market, but we must know the characteristics that a CMMS program must have:

It is common to find in the market different programs and operating systems Open Source (Open Source Software).
For a CMMS program, we can find several open source proposals, but from our perspective it is not the best solution if you do not have an IT development expert and budget, since it is important to have an updated CMMS program.
Typically, open source systems are flexible and customizable, allowing them to be adapted to the specific needs of each organization. But we insist that it is important to evaluate each option based on the requirements, the support available and the active community that supports the development and continuous improvement of the software.
In addition, open source solutions in CMMS, unlike others, are poor in functionality, little adjustable to the challenges faced by a factory.
