To have a central system to record alarms and process values.
The goal is to improve production processes through increased efficiency in terms of KPIs (e.g. target quantity vs. actual quantity) and alarms.
Solution
As part of a pilot project, Paul Hartmann became convinced of the advantages of MES Legato and decided to expand this application across all sectors.
The project started in the field of “incontinence products”. So far, eight lines with 14 controllers (Simatic S7, BoschRexroth) are connected to Legato.
Data coupling is carried out via OPC by means of cyclical data transfer. The main components of Legato – the recording of process values and alarms as well as the calculation of KPIs per plant – are included, as well as the visualization of data in terms of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) and user reports.
A special aspect of this project is the fact that all system messages have to be justified in Legato and confirmed by the users. Based on the reasons for the messages, detailed analyses can be carried out, such as Top10 or Pareto analyses.
The project was realized by one of our competency partners, ortenauinfo; their local proximity guarantees an optimal support of the project.
Results
Great time savings by automatically creating and sending user reports with high data quality with the elimination of logging and manual data processing.
Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) in the processes.
